Hello and welcome to Bridging the Gap: A Nation Divided. My name is Nicholas. I created this site as a medium to actively voice all the thoughts, ideas, conversations, frustrations, and hopes that cross my mind within the world of politics.

The focus of the blog is centered around the United States, but this does not mean this will be my only focus. I intend to intertwine the rest of the world into my pieces to provide perspectives that we, as Americans, are not typically used to hearing, reading, or seeing due to our American-centric focus.

Though I consider myself relatively well traveled, I still have an entire world to see and hope that any future travel will provide further insight into the complex world we live in. I have been fortunate to have spent the last year and a half living in Barcelona, España. Prior to my time here, my life was shaped by the 21 years I spent in New Mexico, followed by Texas, Ohio, and Djibouti.

I do not claim to be an expert on politics or on political theory. Any student of any field will understand how hard it can be to utilize theory. However, I believe that theory as an aid to my pieces will only strengthen my narratives. One of the most important things about my thought process is that I always seek to look at the opposite side. I do this as a consistent bias check and to reaffirm my own beliefs. I find this important in the world of politics so that you are not following beliefs without critical thought.
